Is it true if I neuter my pit bull dog he would become more aggressive?

I went to a friends house with my 1yr old pit bull dog. I had mention to him that I wanted to neuter him to make him more mellow. He recommended I didn't do that because it would just make him more aggressive because of his nature. To me it didn't make sense but he really confused me. He suggested I don't do it, so what gives? Hes no vet but he breeds them so I don't know!Is it true if I neuter my pit bull dog he would become more aggressive?
testicals=testocerone. testocerone=hormones.

it may mellow him out a bit, but castration is NOT a miracle solution for every problem out there.

he should have been neutered a while ago. your friend is a BYB idiot. ';because of his nature'; call bullsh.it.Is it true if I neuter my pit bull dog he would become more aggressive?
Sounds like he just wants you to have an intact dog - maybe to ';borrow'; later on for breeding purposes. BYB scum (no offense.)

Neutering does not affect behavior so much as it affects hormones. It kills the ability to breed/reproduce and will cut down on hormones. Depending on the individual dog it may calm the dog down or may not do a thing.

It does NOT ';create'; aggression. Aggression is borne of poor breeding/genetics and poor training/socialization with hormones often contributing to it or causing dominance disputes.

Neuter the dog for his safety, and so you don't end up contributing to the shelter population like your ';friend'; probably is.
I worked at a vets office and he always recomended neuturing male dogs (no matter the breed) because it lowers their testosterone levels and makes them mellow out, not only around other males but around females as well. They wont be going crazy just to get to a female, and they wont try to ';compete'; or ';show off'; with other males.

It makes no sense that your friend says neutering your dog would make him aggressive when the oppisite is true.

The only reason not to neuter your dog would be if you wanna stud him.
Your friend has little dog knowledge. It will make him less aggressive and less likely to run away after a female dog in heat. Just cause he breeds them doesn't mean he knows what he's talking about. An added benefit to male or female dogs when your not going to breed is less likely hood of cancer (breast in females - yes, dogs get that) and testicular in males). You also will help keep unwanted dogs from being destroyed. Having a dog fixed is the responsible thing to do when not breeding.
Your friend is a idiot, a moron, and an imbecile....not to mention he's probably a crappy breeder of crappy dogs. You need to have your dog neutered NOW if you want to curb aggression. If you wait until the dog is mature (in about SIX MONTHS) it won't matter that you neutered him (behavior wise). Neutering in my opinion and in my experience only ';calms'; dogs down when they're neutered before puberty has passed. You're basically stopping him from maturing into an adult male aka keeping him a boisterous boy instead of allowing him to mature into an adult male capable of great aggression if he feels the need to defend himself.

As proof of that put it this way. A 12 month old dog can NOT be a Police Service Dog because he's not mentally mature enough to truly fight a man with real aggression much the same as you wouldn't expect a 12 year old to go to war in Iraq and fight with grown men. But at 18-24 months a dog becomes mentally mature and is capable of true aggression and fighting, much the same that most of our fighting men are 18-mid 20's! You're taking away his source of testosterone before he matures by neutering him before 18 months.
Get your dog neutered, and get new friends.

Your dog will be safer after he is neutered, for a lot of reasons, and your supposed 'friend' isn't anyone's friend if he is making more Pit Bulls to be killed in the pound. He certainly isn't yours, or your dog's.

Here is a link to a good Pit Bull group you can learn a lot from.

They work hard to keep these loving dogs out of the hands of people like that, and teach owners how to make their dogs into the awesome pets they can be.

Your friend is an idiot. Neutering absolutely does not make a dog more aggressive. Unfortunately BYBers are drawn to pit bulls like flies to sh*t and thus all too often are euthanized in animal shelters across the country, I thank you so much for wanting to have him neutered!
No, that's Absolutely False! Reasons to neuter includes the following:

-Depending on the dog (every dog is individual and should be treated as such) it could possibly make the dog more ';calm';

-Animal Shelters/Rescues are over flowing with dogs, especially ';Pit Bulls'; Breeding should be left to the Few Reputable Breeders who know what they are doing. Thousands upon thousands are being Euthanized do the Irresponsible owners and Back Yard Breeders.

-a few Health Issues (neutering/spaying could extend your Pet's Life.

-Neutering will make him less likely to bite compared to that of unaltered males.

amongst other reasons.

Neutering/Spaying is the Responsible thing to do.

He only breeds, never studied veterinary surgery. Do not be confused.

Neutering does not make a dog aggressive. It removes the testosterone that is their petrol, that drives them to be boisterous. This is why dogs mostly calm down, after neutering. Not all, but most.

Talk to your vet, not your friend. Your vet is the one who is qualified on these matters.
I had an inter-dog aggressive puppy neutered at 5 months old. It didn't change him a bit. Neutering chiefly affects (as you know) the ability to reproduce. It may mellow some male dogs but mostly it makes little or no change in a dog's personality or behavior. Ask your vet.
I got my dog neutered about 6 months ago. Believe it or not, it actually made him much more calm and cuddlier. He was pretty high strung, and would get aggressive playing with his toys before, but now he's much more mellowed out. He actually comes and cudldes with me now! It will definitely not make him more aggressive. I've never even heard of that.
That's stupid.

Neutering your pit will make him less aggressive, because it will reduce the amount of hormones pumping through his body. Don't listen to your friend, get him neutered.
*headdesk*

Aggression is one of the few things that actually IS LESSENED by neutering.

Your friend is very misinformed and should not be breeding anything, including himself.

*headdesk*
Im really sorry but your ';breeder'; friend does not know what he is talking about...neuter your dog, its the best thing you can do for him ;o)
Your friend is an idiot and probably knows little to nothing about dogs in general. Probably has crappy bred APBT's as well.

Neuter your dog.
Neutering a dog would not make him more aggressive. It should calm him down. I would ask a vet or the ASPCA if you have a questions.
No it would make him less aggressive. Sounds like he needs to be neutered as well as your friends dogs... and someone should probably neuter your friend too
Your friend is an idiot. He breeds pitbulls, so I'm sure he does not neuter. He appears to be a BYB
He is an idiot breeder.

It will not make the dog aggressive or mellow.
no hes wrong. I had my pit bull neutered and hes much more mellow and calmer now.
no it's the opposite. neutering an animal removes the testicles where testosterone is produced.
No, your friend doesn't know squat.
