Is it true that most europeans drink wine with every meal?

I assume the French and Italians probably do, but I've heard that the majority of european countries, or at least western european countries drink wine throughout the day. Not to get drunk(or maybe, who knows), but just like we would grap for a soda or a cup of coffee, they'll grab for a glass of vino.Is it true that most europeans drink wine with every meal?
i guess so.. i mean.. it doesnt just depend on the country but what a certain region is famous for like bordeaux.. lets say there is a vineyard nearby, then there ought to be people living around that enjoys its produce.. but generally speaking.. more of central to south-western europe where sunshine is abundant and wine is good..Is it true that most europeans drink wine with every meal?
This is a controversy. I have read some where that they drink wine with their dinner and having a glass of red wine is actually good for you. Takes all the toxins out of your body. I am not European, nor do I live in Europe. I would assume then that in only moderation they would drink wine with dinner. That is just a guess for me.
Most of the times :Italians and French , some Spanish too. With a meal.
No, perhaps in Austria they do.
The attitude about having wine during the day in Europe, expecially with a meal, is very non-judgemental, although drunkeness at any time is frowned upon. I think this is because wine is seen as facilitating social enjoyment and as an important accessory element to the meal. Europeans understand the function of wine and are not intimidated by it. They are less likely to attach a moral value to having a glass than many Americans who see any alcohol related product as evil. With all that being said, I did not see people sucking down whole bottles during meals. They would casually sip a glass or two with their food. The house wines we recently had in Italy , were very inexpensive as well. In some cases they were cheaper than sodas on the menu, and much better than cheap wine is supposed to be.
Not really true. A lot of countries (like Germany) prefer beer over wine.
well we don't in England but yeah alot of countrys do drink it with most meals, apparently it's very good for you as it relaxes you and helps lower blood pressure!
it depends of their thirst or ailments at the time, wine is also used for certain aches and pains ,to be taken in moderation only, allot of euros that i know do have red wine with every meal
Not with breakfast.

As for lunch and dinner, actually, the French not so universally as 50 years ago, especially north of the Loire Valley. Although still very popular, wine with lunch has been supplanted by many by beer and non-alcoholic drinks. South of the Loire the tradition of wine has remained more.

Otherwise, in addition to the Italians wine with most meals is standard in the other Mediterranean countries of Spain and Greece. Protugal to a lesser extent, also Malta.
