I remember this from an old TV series, known as Kung Fu The Legend Continues.
Is it true that it really does rob the future when you look at what has happened in the past, and base decisions based on what has happend in the past?
Does it matter what type of decision was made according to the past?
Any help would be very much appreciated. Thank You.Is it true that when you look at the past, you rob the future?
Only if you are STUCK in the past*Is it true that when you look at the past, you rob the future?
When you look towards the past or the future, you take your mind off the present moment.
As the saying goes, ';Tomorrow never comes.';
-This is true! Tomorrow becomes today, and we will never see tomorrow.
You may ask why taking ones attention off the present could pose as a bad thing, and I would tell you because the present is what is happening NOW. We can only make decisions now. We cant make decisions in the future or in the past.
Your quote rings a bit of truth. IF you make decisions based on the past, you are learning, but then again you must take the present into consideration. Every situation you face, every event, day, hour, or minute you experience is different from the one before. You will never experience the same minute, day, event, situation. Never.
Treat every situation with compassion and consideration. Take time to focus on the present, and ignore the past. The future is important, but if we are always looking towards the future, what is the point for the present??
This problem comes up a lot when people ask how they can be happy now, instead of later. I say, ';If you are always working to be happy in the future, you will never achieve it.';
Happiness happens now, or never.

I hope not because my family are always dragging the past up. I've stopped doing it myself because I do not see my daughter as a mistake or that my life has been wasted just because I had her at 16 and out of wedlock. She is almost 19 now and I have enjoyed every minute of the time I have spent with her.
Yes... but only the time to think on the future, because when you think on the past, you don't think on the future.. (loosing your time to think in something that is more important).
No that's stupid. You need to learn from the past to avoid making mistakes, better quote,
';History doesn't repeat itself, but it does rhyme.';
