Is it true that caffeine slows down your metabolism?

I bloody hope not as i actually thought it speeds up your metabolism instead. Is it true that caffeine slows down your metabolism?
caffeine does nothing to your metabolism.

it only speeds up your heart... and since each beat of your heart requires a certain amount of calories, it requires more calories overall if it's beating faster.

As soon as the caffeine wears off, your rate of calorie burn returns to normal.

Caffeine is not a good way to lose weight... it puts strain on your heart, and it doesn't burn enough extra calories to be worth it.

Best to eat right and stay active. Is it true that caffeine slows down your metabolism?
no, caffeine acts as a stimulant. Stimulants are drugs that temporarily increase alertness and wakefulness.
dont say that i just had three cups.i am on the night shift.
hope not i drink loads ????????
I'm no expert, but all the diet mags tell us it speeds it up.
in some ways maybe. i read an article in mens health saying that red bull and most energy drinks actually inhibits the body the ability to burn fat.
IT does not affect your metabolism at all, only your pulse rate which it elevates slightly. It also acts as a mild stimulant.
Pretty sure you were right to begin with. Caffeine is a stimulant, and thereby speeds up your metabolism. It's in some diet pills, even.

If caffeine slowed your metabolism, I would be one fat guy, instead of slightly underweight. I consume around 700mg (and around 400 grams of sugar) of caffeine a day, give or take a bit.

Really does a number on my teeth though (that's the sugar, however, my drink of choice is mountain dew).. Went to the dentist just today... 7 cavities.
No caffeine is a stimulant. It speeds it up.
