Is it true that there has been a lot of Polish immigration to the UK?

there can't be anywhere near as many of them as people from India/Pakistan or the Caribbean, can there?

note: i am not looking to stir up any racial trouble with this question. it's just an honest question about the population of the UK.Is it true that there has been a lot of Polish immigration to the UK?
There has been a lot of Polish immigration to the UK, but you'd be correct in saying that there are nowhere near as many Poles in the UK as there are people of Indian and Pakistani origin. Most of the Poles here are economic migrants who don't intend to make the UK their permanent home - their plan is to make lots of cash then move back to Poland, and indeed many have already gone back.

What's interesting about the Polish influx is how many have come here in such a short space of time - hundreds of thousands between 2004 and 2007, dwarfing the Government's official estimate of around 30,000.

The presence of lots of foreign workers is a political sore point in the UK now that jobs are scarce, and it has led to a rise in support for hard-right nationalist political parties such as the BNP.Is it true that there has been a lot of Polish immigration to the UK?
Not as many, no, but there are a lot of Poles here.

Apparently, some have started emigrating back to Poland though lol, they must not like it here.

Oh, and Tesco (et al) have started catering for Polish customers, with separate sections for them. And some pubs now offer Polish beer. Apparently it's cheaper, works in half the time as John Smiths and can lose you your job.

=)

[disclaimer- I have nothing against the Poles....]
Yes recently the rules have been relaxed in Europe and we are all able to work in different countries. The thing is people that left their home countries a few decades ago now consider themselves British and as the influx of Poles has risen considerably in the last 3 years then they more prominent in the general population at the moment.
according to recent figures 1 million poles have arrived in the UK since 2004, while there are more from India and Pakistan they have been arriving over 50 years and not all at once.

In my town 40% of the people are now polish.
Yeah, i think our government will be pushing down on immigration, it is definately not as much as 1 million though i would say about5-6 hundred thousand
They have joined the EU therefore can travel anywhere in Europe to work. So yes a lot have came over to Britain.
Yeah that's what my friends who live in england said. Supposedly there's a lot of Polish builders etc
There has been a rise yes.
well yes i think there has been an increase
