Interracial marriages occur only in the New World, and even there it is too few to have an impact as something like 95 to 99 percent of marriages are within races. Is it true that different human races are still drifting towards becoming different species?
That article does stand in the face of how things appear: People now populate the planet in large numbers in several racial groups that vary in narrow ways, but are extremely similar in the basic biology, as is typical of races or sub-species. And those races have come together as never before in the last 100 years. In ALL parts of the world, not just America. It is now a more common issue to identify people as a mix of races. Yes, people do tend to mate within race, but less so than before. And the social reasons are a relatively minor factor.
The most important change that will effect the way people will look 1, 10, 100,0000 years from now is that people are physically able to travel throughout the globe, and they do, in large numbers. Travel is not limited to a few elites. And those who travel are, I submit, more likely to be succeeding in the game of life generally, and likely to bear fit children.
This is incredibly important, because geographic separation is a principal cause of reproductive isolation. Now, it could be that social habits are enough to keep the races distinct. But when you look around, on the whole, do you think that wedded couples are socially ostracized and discouraged, in proportion to how different they are? I think not. You do see mixing being taboo, sometimes between people who look to be of the same race, for religious and other social reasons. And you do have taboos against miscegenation still. But they are much weaker than before. And you don't see them as much in the ruling classes, who generally tend to inititate social trends.
So, speciation by branching ain't gonna happen in my opinion. We will all mix and the races will be more indistinct in the future. Is it true that different human races are still drifting towards becoming different species?
We are all, always slowly drifting towards evolution into a new species.
It is the way of the world.
For instance, every year more and more people worldwide, regardless of race and origin are being born with webbed toes.
Life knows when and how to prepare for worldly changes.
Well the article was published late in 2007, so I think it's too soon to ask if it's STILL true. Also, it's just one scientist, basically, who is saying this--most say it's not happening.
No. Speciation is not that simple. The Tazmanian Aboriginals were isolated from other humans for thousands of years.
They could still have children with other people, so they were still the same species.
I doubt it. SO many marriage are multi racial that we will probably make a super race or something but not a new species.
no, no matter what eugenics peopl tell you.
