Is it true that if you have a tattoo on your lower back you cant have an epidurel? cause my sisters freind having a baby and she has a tattoo on her lower back?Is it true you cant have a epidural if you have tattoo on ur lower back?
It depends on the anesthesiologist. I work in surgery and most of our MDA's will do an epidural through a tatt, but there are a few who wont.Is it true you cant have a epidural if you have tattoo on ur lower back?
I think it is a myth because my mom has a tattoo on her lower back and she had an epidural when she had my sister.
anesthesiologists use landmarks like the vertebrae to determine where the actual epidural goes in. it's a decent size needle, and may leave a very small circular scar. but having a tattoo would not eliminate her chance of choosing to have an epidural during her delivery.

thats not true! you may want to have an anesthesiologist with experience in cosmetic surgery perform the procedure, but thats only to make sure the piece stays intact.
