This is what a girl told me. Is the patch safer than the pill in this case?Is it true if a woman takes birth control there is a risk it could permanently sterilize her or cause cancer?
No it is not true. She is probably just trying to get pregnant. The patch and the pill are of equal safety. Is it true if a woman takes birth control there is a risk it could permanently sterilize her or cause cancer?
Birth control cannot permanently sterilize a woman. Birth control works by giving the body hormones--once these hormones are used up, the effects of the birth control wears off rapidly.
As for cancer, this is generally only the case in older women. Estrogen can cause breast cancer, and estrogen is present in birth control pills--but it's only women in menopause who need to seriously worry about taking estrogen, or women who already have cancer.
