Besides of: the weight, value and color.
I'm mean is there some kind of code or relation onto these stamps? That way, i can buy real gold. How can i tell a big difference between a true gold medalion that has a ';750'; and a ';14k Italy'; stamped on it?
In the precious metals markets, their are common stampings that occur on chain clasps, rings, earrings, etc.
For Gold, the stamps are typically:
10K
14K
18K or 750
For Platinum it's usually:
750
950 thus, the 950 denotes 95% purity.
The Italians are the best chain makers in the world so they try to stamp Italy on their chain (actually on the clasp usually) for branding so the retailers can get more for it.
